Applying and Paying
 

How do I apply for housing?

You can sign up for housing through our housing application.

 

When are my fees due?

Fees are due 3 days from your first orientation day.

 

Where are do I pay?

You can pay your fees at the big cashier's window outside of Building D.

 

Can I do split payments?

Your balance needs to be paid in full at the beginning of the term. We will not accept split payments or payment plans.

Can I still get a refund?

Once you have signed the contract, you can not receive a refund. Also, you may only move into your apartment once the contract is signed.

Can I live with my friends?

Once your application is processed, we will email you with a Confirmation Letter. Also included in that email is a ‘Roommate Preference Sheet’. On this sheet you can list if you wish to live with a friend, another student of the same nationality as you, an American Resident Advisor, or if you do not have a preference at all. Although we cannot guarantee that you will be placed with whom you list, we will try and accommodate your request.

General Housing Questions

Where are the University Apartments located?

University Apartments are located roughly two miles from campus.

Are the apartments furnished?

Our apartments are fully furnished, with furniture, linens, and kitchen utensils included. Refer to our gallery on the Home Page to get a better idea what our apartments look like.

 

What else is included?

Our apartments also come with high speed internet and cable TV.

How can I get to the UC Irvine Campus from my apartment?         

There are two different shuttles that students can choose from. The shuttles vary in their price and routes, though it is typically a 10-minute ride. Apartments are also a walking or biking distance.

Is a cleaning service available for me to use?

Yes, cleaning service will clean your apartment at the beginning and at the end of your stay. However, cleaning service can also be arranged throughout the quarter for an additional fee.

Can I set up an Internet connection in the apartment?

Wireless internet is provided to all students. Password and username is located at the bottom of the router. You may, however, arrange for your own internet service if you would like faster internet.

 

Can I set up an Internet connection in the dorms?

 Ethernet connection available after activation of “UCI Net ID” ($10 fee).

Is the housing staff allowed to enter my apartment?

Right of entry: housing has the right to enter your apartment at any time and has keys to your apartment. We respect your   privacy, and will try to post a notice if we know we will be entering the apartment. Please be aware of and read all notices posted in the apartment. When we enter, we will knock three times, announce ourselves, and if no one answers we will use our key to get into the apartment. You do not need to be home for housing, maintenance, or other service crews to enter your apartment.

 

What happens if I damage the apartment?

Be sure to report any damages to your RA, the Housing Office, or through our Maintenance Request Page.  We will assess the damages and determine whether or not charges will be placed on your account.

 

Can I smoke in the apartment?

Smoking is not permitting inside of the apartment. Smoking is permitted on the balconies ONLY, and ONLY if the doors to the apartment are closed.

 

Am I allowed to have a pet in my apartment?

No pets are allowed inside the apartment.

 

Can I have alcohol in my apartment?

Residents and guests under the age of 21 are not permitted to use or possess alcohol or be in an area where others are drinking alcohol.

What should I do if someone is making me uncomfortable?

We do not tolerate harassment from anyone; whether it be a roommate or neighbor, we expect all students to respect each other.

Should you feel bullied, harassed, or threatened may contact your RA, the Housing Office, Cindy, or the police if it is severe.

 

Can I change roommates?

If there are any roommate problems, you can discuss them with your Resident Advisor or one of the Housing Coordinators in the Housing Office. If it is a homestay problem, you should speak with the Homestay Coordinator at the company you selected.

 

If I rent/buy a car, where can I park my car?

Two parking spaces are available per apartment and they are provided by the International Housing Office. However, if you would like to park your car on campus you will need to buy a separate parking pass for an additional fee.

Can I live with a Homestay family?

The University of California, Irvine, University Extension and International Programs are not affiliated in any way with a specific homestay company. However, we can provide the contact information of  local homestay companies that you can apply to directly.

Airport Pick-up Service

How much is the airport pick-up service?

                     i.      $80.00 if coming from LAX.  This is payable upon arrival.

                     ii.     $45.00 if coming from John Wayne Airport. This is payable upon arrival.

 

When is airport pick-up available?  What if I come earlier?

 Airport pick-up service and housing check-in are available during the two business days (excluding holidays) prior to the first day of the program.  Students arriving before the official check-in days will need to check-in to a hotel. Airport pick-up service may still be available to early arrival students if they go back to the airport on an official check-in day.

When do I need to request the airport pick-up service by?

Students are asked to provide their arrival information at least two weeks prior to arrival. 

Is there an alternative transportation option from the airport?

Students and agents are given the following alternative transportation recommendations if we are unable to offer airport pick-up service:
